NSHSS Member Event at Florida International University (FIU)

The NSHSS Events Team looks forward to seeing you, our outstanding members, and your families at our Member Event in the Student Academic Success Center (SASC) on the campus of Florida International University. You'll be welcomed with a continental breakfast, then we'll dive right into a special CIA presentation, educational workshops, and a college & career fair. We'll end the day with our Member Recognition Ceremony, where each NSHSS member in attendance will be recognized for their incredible academic achievements with their own honor medallion.

8:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Badge Pick-Up

Attendees will check-in with a digital or printed copy of their tickets and members will receive name badges in the Campus Center Auditorium foyer.

8:00 AM – 9:15 AM: Networking Breakfast

NSHSS will provide a catered continental breakfast for attendees.

9:15 AM – 10:00 AM: NSHSS Welcome & Florida International University Information Session

NSHSS will welcome attendees to campus, then Florida International University staff will guide them through an informative presentation about the university.

10:00 AM – 10:45 AM: CIA Student Opportunities

Our partner, the Central Intelligence Agency, will present information about the special opportunities available to NSHSS members in high school, college, and even post-graduation.

11:00 AM - 11:30 AM: Florida International University Honors College

Honors College representatives from FIU will showcase their program and what it takes to join this elite group as well as the benefits to being apart of the Honors College.

11:30 AM – 2:00 PM: Lunch Break

Attendees will visit nearby eateries for lunch on their own.

11:30 AM – 2:00 PM: Campus Tours

Attendees will have time to explore and tour the campus.

11:30 AM – 2:00 PM: College and Career Fair

Attendees will have the chance to gather information from College & Career Fair exhibitors.

2:00 PM - 2:45 PM: Scholarships at Florida International University

Scholarships! We all love scholarships, FIU will share information about the many scholarships that they offer. They will also present the qualifications and application process to snag these scholarships.

3:00 PM – 4:30 PM: Member Recognition Ceremony

Members will hear congratulatory remarks and receive their own NSHSS honor medallion.

We recommended that you register as soon as possible. Due to Covid-19 policies, seating is limited, and registration will close once we reach the venue's maximum capacity. Only those who register via Eventbrite will be admitted to the event. Registration fees are nonrefundable.

CORONAVIRUS & NSHSS MEMBER EVENTS

All NSHSS event attendees will be required to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. This requirement applies even if you are fully vaccinated. Masks are not required when food and beverage are being consumed in designated areas, or when speaking/presenting in an official capacity the event.

Following the guidance from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO), we ask that you do not attend any NSHSS events if you:

- have traveled from or transited to any country outside of the U.S. listed in Risk Assessment Level 4 and Level 3, 21 days prior to the NSHSS event

- have a positive COVID test prior to the NSHSS event

*NSHSS will provide a transfer credit or refund with proof of positive test 2 weeks before event date.*

NSHSS has incorporated the following policies at all events to ensure the safety of all participants:

-All attendees, partners, and speakers must wear a face covering at NSHSS Events. If mask usage is not adhered to, event participation may be limited.

-NSHSS staff traveling to and working at events have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reminds us to take protective measures against the coronavirus, here’s how:

Wash your hands frequently

Maintain social distancing

Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth

Practice respiratory hygiene

If you have a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early.

These precautionary safety measures will remain in effect until further notice. We will continue to monitor the current situation and will update these protocols as needed with information we receive from local health authorities, the CDC, WHO, and IMO.
