We are all connected.
The Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW) holds an annual conference each spring for members to meet, collaborate, and share knowledge. The theme of this year's conference is: Celebrating Courage.
This conference seeks to create spaces for social workers to gather together and restore faith in themselves and the transformative potential of their practice. We hope to support practitioners in developing deep and nuanced understanding of how their positionality affects the work they do, and create opportunities to learn from first voices with varied experiences. Our goal is to build community for our members and to help us learn from one another, even as we work to liberate ourselves. We will be celebrating intersectional first voices amongst our members and learning from them, as part of our commitment to safer social work practice.
This conference will be a decentralized hybrid event, with the option of participating virtually or at in-person gatherings at regional hubs across Nova Scotia. This Eventbrite page is for the Halifax session; you can find links below for the other sessions:
- Virtual
- Sydney
- Yarmouth
- Pictou
- New Minas
Further program information will be added to the conference website (nscswconference.org) in late April.
Meetings
The annual conference dates coincide with two important meetings for NSCSW. Members of the College should RSVP for those meetings separately if they plan to join.
Non-members will be able to watch public livestreams via our YouTube channel.
All NSCSW members are invited to participate directly in these meetings on Zoom, including retired and student members. All NSCSW members can vote except those who are not in good standing or who have a limited registration (e.g. temporary registration, restricted to telepractice from outside Nova Scotia etc.).
Tentative date: Thursday May 23
NSCSW members will be invited to consider, debate, and vote on several motions.
Saturday May 25
This is a presentation of the NSCSW's annual report.
