Town meeting is a gathering of registered voters that serves as the legislative branch of town government. Town meetings are used to pass budgets, enact laws, and authorize spending. It is crucial that every NR Democrat and Dem-leaning independent try to attend Town Meeting. Like last time, we can help arrange volunteer childcare (older kids of fellow NR Dems) for parents of young children looking to attend. Town Republicans are very vocal and very effective at pushing their extreme agenda at these meetings. We all need to do our very best attend in order to prevent their attempts to cut the school budget or vote against decisions that will improve our town and save NR taxpayers money (local MAGA are always pushing schemes that will cost this town in the long run). This will be a longer meeting (because the town budget and some contentious land use decisions will be on the agenda) but will be sped up by the use of the new electronic voting system (clickers).
Please put this on your calendar so we can continue to advance our shared priorities and safeguard our town against MAGA. Town Meeting is where local democracy happens in real time!
