Now You See is the 2025 Degree Show by MA Curating and Collections students at Chelsea College of Arts. The exhibition explores visibility, memory, and value through three interlinked rooms — each offering a distinct curatorial response to the unseen structures and stories in art and life.

? Responding/Ignoring

What does it mean to be seen, and what does it cost to be overlooked?

This room focuses on invisible labour in the cultural field — from ideation to production.Inspired by the work of Mierle Laderman Ukeles and in collaboration with artist Jose Garcia Oliva, it sheds light on structural inequalities, precarious work conditions, and collective resistance.The display includes the Latin American Protest Archive and contributions from Gasworks, highlighting the politics of visibility and care.

? Remembering/Forgetting

Can memory be tangible?

This room explores how personal and collective memory can be materialised through textile, ink, and image.Featuring works by Xinyue Tao, Eleanor Street, Hafza Yusuf, Mahnoor Ali Gilani, Tari Esewe-Bastel, Xinmiao Ge, and Tulani Hlalo, the space is divided into two parts:

? Room One: Personal memory and emotional landscapes

? Room Two: Cultural heritage and collective remembrance

Expect lumen prints, moving image, fabric installations, and tactile storytelling.

? Seeing & Unseeing

What do you see when you don’t know what you’re seeing?

This room, curated using the ILEA Collection, invites audiences to reflect on how we assign meaning to objects — especially across unfamiliar contexts.Through a mix of archival displays and displaced items, it challenges our assumptions of value, taste, and “good” design.The display explores perception, disruption, and the layered nature of looking.
