The “Souposium” is a mini-symposium held over a light soup and bread meal. Facilitated by Rick Mihm, the Souposium will help us to address the strained (and sometimes broken) relationships in our world today. Whether it be relationships between friends, neighbors, family members, communities, or nations, almost everyone is feeling the effects of anger and division. This program focuses on particular protocols which can help to rebuild and strengthen the relationships in our lives.
The November Souposium will feature a hands-on presentation called, “Authentic Conversations: Getting to the Heart of the Matter,” by Tracey Lee Roberts, MA. This presentation, based on several decades of work by psychologist Dr. Marshall B. Rosenburg, Ph.D., aims to introduce you to a communication style that is “nonviolent,” rooted in compassion, without judgment, blame, or dismissiveness to others. In this short presentation, you will learn the four components of engaging in authentic conversations, learn the difference between thoughts and feelings, and practice using authentic conversations.
Tracey Lee Roberts, MA, is a retired historian and yoga teacher who has completed over 150 hours of advanced study with the Center for Nonviolent Communication. She believes that compassion for oneself, and others, is the key to finding peace.
Free-will donation only; please RSVP online at shalomretreats.org or by calling 563.582.3592 by Thursday, October 31.
