November Quad Squad Meeting - FREE Youth Chess Casual Tournament
Advertisement
The Pawn Project is a free chess program for youth from elementary through high school, offering both Monthly Open Meetings and Quad Squad Meetings.
Quad Squad Meetings begin with approximately 30-minute for a group lesson focused on a practical tournament skill — like using a chess clock, tournament etiquette, or reading pairings. Then it’s time to put that skill into practice with a casual 3-round quad tournament against players around your playing level. Winners of each quad will be announced at the end of the meeting and will receive a certificate from The Pawn Project.
Real tournament experience. Low pressure. Youth of all ages and skill levels welcome from beginners to seasoned tournament players.
📅 This is the LAST Quad Squad Meeting for 2026:
November 30
4:30–6:30 PM
Bush Tabernacle
♟️ KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!
First time at Quad Squad? Please attend an Open Meeting first, or contact [email protected] to provide chess level information at least 48 hours prior to the event. Returning members are encouraged to RSVP, but are welcome to walk-in since we will already know their club playing level.
All level players should plan to arrive by 4:30 PM for check-in. We cannot guarantee a quad spot after the group lesson ends.
Come early for The Hangout! For those that can make it, Bush Tabernacle opens their doors at 2 PM with FREE entry and select FREE activities. Optional skate is just $8 (includes rentals). Rink will close at 4:00 to transform into our chess hall. More info about "The Hangout" here:
CONCESSIONS | 2–6:30 PM
Pizza $3 • Pretzel $3 • Hot Dog $2 • Chips $1 • Candy $2 • Drinks $1–$2.50
* Check Facebook Events or our website for unexpected updates or changes.
** The Pawn Project meetings continue to follow LCPL guidelines while at Bush Tabernacle. Parents/guardians remain responsible for their child(ren). Children under 10 need a supervising companion age 13 or older. For everyone's safety, any minor not picked up by closing time may be referred to local authorities.
