Ohio at Gettysburg: Buckeye’s in the Civil War’s Greatest BattleJoin Ohio native, Wayne E. Motts for a presentation about the role of the Buckeye State in the Battle of Gettysburg. More than 4,400 Buckeyes fought in the Battle of Gettysburg for the Union during all three days of the battle. Wayne will cover the history of the Ohio troops at Gettysburg and convey some unique personal stories about a few Ohio men who took part in this pivotal engagement.
Wayne E. Motts is a native of Groveport, Ohio where his family founded and manages Motts Military Museum. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University and has been a licensed Battlefield Guide at the Gettysburg National Military Park for the past 37 years. He has led three non-profit historical organizations including the Adams County Historical Society in Gettysburg and the Gettysburg Foundation. He is currently the chief executive officer of the National Civil War Museum located in the Pennsylvania State Capital of Harrisburg.
