STEM Facilitation PD
Moving Beyond Hands-On to “Minds-On” STEM
Session Description:
This session helps educators transform engaging activities into meaningful learning experiences. Participants will engage in a STEM challenge and then unpack how to intentionally embed questioning, discussion, and thinking routines that push youth beyond doing to understanding. Emphasis is placed on connecting activities to concepts and facilitating deeper learning.
The purpose of this series is to provide both new and veteran informal/afterschool educators alike with new tools, resources, and practices to provide high quality STEM experiences to youth in the out of school time environment. The series will engage attendees in a variety of small group, hands on, problem and project-based learning activities. Whether you are comfortable leading STEM activities or not—these sessions are for you to help build capacity in a fun, supportive environment!
*This activity is supported in part by 21st Century Community Learning Center federal funds under Title IV, Part B of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act as amended.
