Get your tails wagging and costumes ready. This month’s Pet Social is part party, part training, and 100% adorable.
Join us for a Halloween celebration at The Barkery's brand new Czech Village location, where we’ll mix socialization, calm engagement, and some festive fun! Whether your pet is rocking a spooky solo look or you’ve got matching costumes planned, this event is all about celebrating our community and showing off those therapy-animal-level manners… even in a goofy outfit.
🎃 Prizes will be awarded for:
• Best individual pet costume
• Best team costume (pet + person or group)

Space is limited so every handler and pet has room to train and enjoy the outing.
This is part of a bigger culture shift where pets are calm, handlers are confident, and Adventure Teams show the world what great training and teamwork look like... even in costume!

Who can come:
Pet Socials are open to King’s Creatures clients only, whether you've completed a consultation or are an active member of the King's Creatures Adventure Team Club.

What to bring and what to expect:
• A 6 foot leash (no retractables)
• High value treats to keep your pet focused
• Water for your pet and poop bags
• A costume. Simple or extravagant (or none at all if your pet isn’t a fan)
• A willingness to lead by example as we practice therapy animal level manners
We’ll focus on calm greetings, neutral behavior in a busy indoor space, and staying composed in costumes and new environments.
A quick reminder:
There are no on-leash greetings during the Social. That includes dogs in the group or dogs passing by. It’s a safety thing and helps our Adventure Teams stay relaxed and focused. I’ll help you explain the reason if needed.
Suggested donation:
These Socials are free to attend, but we suggest a $5 donation per pet and handler team to support Living Creatures Ministry, our nonprofit helping train therapy animals for work across Iowa and beyond.
Your Adventure Team is working hard. Let’s celebrate it with treats, teamwork, and a little bit of spooky silliness.
