Novel-Tea: The Butterfly Pea Edition with author Lucretia Vandyke

This month at Novel-Tea, in honor of Hoodoo Heritage Month, we’re celebrating butterfly pea with Lucretia Vandyke, author of African American Herbalism. Our focus, Hoodoo, Rootwork, & Ceremonies of Self Transformation, is a community gathering to honor Hoodoo as a practice of resilience, healing, connecting to our ancestors , and transformation

1. Learn about medicinal and spiritual uses of herbs and practices for yourself, your home, and protecting your family.
2. Hear stories from Lucretia’s travels and her book “ African American Herbalism” as she shares about the mystical world of rootwork that has been her lifelong practice!
3. Set your intention and create a tea blend that invokes memories and can serve multiple purposes. We will create a tea blend, featuring butterfly pea tea, that can double as a spiritual bath.

Novel-Tea is a monthly pop-up that blends the joy of reading with the warmth of community and the comfort of tea. Guests enjoy meaningful connection with fellow book lovers, and a curated tea experience featuring custom blends from Black-owned tea brands. It's a space to slow down, sip, and share stories.
