To say Robocop 2 is divisive, would be a huge understatement. When it first hit theatres in 1990, many filmgoers were left disappointed. Without Paul Verhoeven’s clever social satire and viewers’ overly high expectations of Irvin Kershner directing another epic sequel like Empire Strikes Back, the sequel would be panned for decades to come.
This film deserves a second chance on the big screen as its goofy nature, overly gratuitous violence, familiar 80’s characters actors and impressive stop-motion animation sequences (led by visual effects genius, Phil Tippet) will make audiences cheer! - Serena Whitney (Programming Director)
