this is basically silent reading..but not, like, aggressively silent. we noticed over the last year that people wanna whisper to their friend and not get dirty stares-- we get that. we're a safe place for the gigglers, gaspers, and people who got yelled at for talking too much in class.
we'll have world jazz playing throughout the space, and quiet(!) conversation is completely welcome.
read alone. read beside a friend. make a new book club buddy. trade recommendations. browse something new. sit in the café. have a $5 drink. spend a few hours somewhere cozy where nobody expects you to be productive, impressive, or online :)

bring whatever you're currently reading, pick up something new at Arundel, arrive with the book that has been sitting unopened beside your bed for six months, or even borrow from our own queer, weird, horror, music, art book library. no assigned reading, no discussion questions, no pressure to finish a chapter, ok??
this night is for folk who want to read more, feel less lonely, spend less time staring at their phone, and/or sit quietly around other human beings without having to perform being social :)
