(NOT) Picture Perfect: Prof. Mikela Chatzimichailidou

Prof. Mikela will be coming speak about her career spaning both industry and academia, and how she climbed the academic ladder.

After her PhD and Postdocs she worked for WSP (providing consulting services working with governments and private sector clients) and Arup (known for their high-profile projects in infrastructure including HS2 and Crossrail). Currently she's a professor at UCL.

Over the past 15 years Mikela has led more than 25 research and commercial projects across sectors such as construction, transport, and healthcare, securing several million pounds in funding.

Her work focuses on systems safety and risk management, and she has published two books and more than 60 peer-reviewed papers. She also serves on expert groups for the Department for Transport and the Health and Safety Executive, and is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
