Not Just D&D in the Tavern: Alice is Missing TTRPG

This month we take a dark turn as we play the renowned Alice is Missing. This immersive RPG is played entirely via text message (we will use a special discord channel to avoid phone numbers needing to be shared). 

This game centers around the disappearance of Alice Briarwood, a high school junior in the small town of Silent Falls. The game is played live and without verbal communication. Players inhabit their character for the entirety of the 90-minute play session, and instead of speaking, send messages back and forth to the other characters in a group chat, as well as individually, as though they aren’t in the same place together. Hauntingly beautiful, deeply personal, and highly innovative, Alice is Missing puts a strong focus on the emotional engagement between players, immersing them in a tense, dramatic mystery that unfolds organically through the messages they send to one another.

No prior experience is necessary. All participants will be sent a quick start guide in advance explaining the rules of the system in an easy to learn format. Characters will be made within the session. 

Please note for this session all participants will be required to bring a phone, ipad or laptop with internet connection (ideally using a personal hotspot or 4G as our internet in the pub is a little spotty) and will be required to have a discord account which they are willing to share with other participants. Warning this game may include themes of:

• Abduction 
• Sexual assault 
• Violence towards Children

This game fundamentally revolves around a child being missing. Please bear in mind that this story may involve upsetting and heavy themes. Inappropriate behavior may result in your removal from the premises. A safeguarding system will be in place that players can use, without judgment, to pause and redirect play during the game.
