About this Event

Youth sports are common in our community. And they aren’t just about winning or losing; having fun and staying healthy. Young athletes learn how to work as a team, how to deal with challenges, and how to respect themselves and others.

At the same time, approximately 1 in 4 of our young people are experiencing a diagnosable mental illness right now. For young athletes, the pressure for perfection is an added weight to the unhealthy pressure so many already face.

As parents, coaches, and adults who care, it can be tricky to help kids navigate their role on a team and how to best support them.

The Kansas City Royals and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City interviewed parents, coaches, children, and mental health professionals to create a compelling documentary detailing how the pressures placed on student-athletes can severely impact their mental health and how best to support whole health.
