About this Event
Not a Cinderella Story is a raw, deeply moving memoir that takes readers on an emotional journey through the life-altering experience of love, unexpected loss, and the quest to regain faith and find healing. It is a story of how a vibrant young woman found herself living a love story straight out of a fairytale, only to face the unimaginable when her husband becomes ill and passes away, leaving her to navigate the harsh realities of widowhood at a young age.
Through candid reflections, the book explores the complexities of grief, the unrealistic societal expectations, and the unique challenges faced by young widows dealing with loss. Drawing from her own experiences, Bethel blends her story with research and findings from neuroscience, offering readers an understanding of how the brain processes trauma and how the body responds to bereavement. Alongside the pain, she shares moments of hope and healing—discoveries that her life could be reimagined, even after devastating loss.
Ultimately, Not a Cinderella Story is more than a memoir about grief; it’s a story of resilience and transformation. It’s a testament to the strength of the human spirit and a reminder that even life’s greatest challenges can lead to unexpected growth. Whether you’re navigating loss or seeking inspiration, this book offers comfort, connection, and the courage to believe in brighter possibilities.
Bethel Stevens is joining us on the Busboys stage to celebrate the release of this memoir and share more about her journey. Copies of the book will be available for purchase during and after the event, and Stevens will be signing following the program.
This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of NOT A CINDERELLA STORY will be available for purchase before and after the event. Please note that this event is in person and will not be livestreamed.
