Join us every Saturday from May 4th to September 28th for Northside Saturday Nights!Curated by The Englert Theatre and sponsored by Hills Bank, this FREE music series promises to ignite the Northside community with outdoor performances from talented local artists. Grab a seat at any of the available tables on the Northside Outside street or bring your own chairs. Whether you're a music enthusiast or just looking for a fun evening out, this event guarantees something special for everyone.
And what's better than enjoying great tunes? Pairing them with delicious food and drinks from our Northside businesses, of course! Attendees can order from any of the Northside restaurants and savor their treats on the street while soaking in the ambiance of Northside's sights and sounds.

Marc Janssen is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from rural Johnson County, IA. Growing up in a Midwestern small town, Janssen observed firsthand the balancing act of hard work and hard luck. He writes songs about everyday life. Janssen has been active in the Midwest traditional music scene since arriving in Iowa City in 2007. Performing on fiddle, mandolin, guitar, steel guitar, and banjo, he regularly plays with multiple groups across multiple genres, including old-time, bluegrass, country, jazz, folk, and rock. He has taught traditional music on multiple instruments locally, regionally, and nationally since 2010.
Janssen released Midwest Hideaway, his first album of original material, in December 2023.
