As we celebrate our community, our history, our culture and our roots we will gather on Sunday, June 16th to celebrate Juneteenth 2024.Juneteenth commemorates the date in 1865 when news of the emancipation of African American slaves reached Galveston, Texas.
The official name of federal holiday is Juneteenth National Independence Day, also called Emancipation Day, Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Black Independence Day, and Juneteenth Independence Day.
This year is the SECOND YEAR that Juneteenth is a State Holiday in the State of Minnesota are we are thrilled to be bringing back the Northside Juneteenth Weekend Celebration for another year.
We will have a FREE Ice Cream Social from 1pm-4pm outside of the Swimming Pool area at North Commons as well as cover the cost of ALL Adult Admission between the 1pm-4pm time frame at North Commons Pool.
North Commons already offers FREE Admission for all Youth 18 & Under so in light of Juneteenth and Father's Day we will cover all adult admissions during that time.
We will also have a number of Lawn Games, a Live DJ & a number of Giveaways! This event is FREE & Open to ALL as we celebrate our freedom, our community and our heritage. We look forward to celebrating our community and culture with each of you!
