Northern FinTech Summit

FinTech North is thrilled to announce our two-day Northern FinTech Summit, hosted in partnership with Rise, Created by Barclays, University of York and Barclays Eagle Labs.

Since its inception, FinTech North has existed to bring together the Northern FinTech community and to showcase the North as a centre for FinTech excellence. Hitherto, this has been achieved by hosting our quarterly regional flagship conferences in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, and Liverpool.

Despite establishing ourselves as an organisation that works to showcase the entire North, historically, it has been difficult to bring everyone together in one place. In recent years with increased digital transformation exposing our events and community to an audience far beyond the north, however, we have seen an increased willingness to travel, with attendees joining us from all ends of the country and overseas.

In 2024, we set out to realise the vision of bringing the North together in one place for a two-day summit. We chose York due to its central location, strong infrastructure, and national travel links. The concept of a two-day summit is informed by the sheer variety and nuance of northern FinTech. Our community is a broad church, therefore we wanted to create an event that focussed on a broad range of themes pertinent to Northern FinTech

We are delighted to announce our inaugural two-day Northern FinTech Summit, which is set to take place on the 10th and 11th of October in the heart of York, at the iconic Guildhall. The Guildhall has rich historic roots, acting as a meeting place for the city’s guilds in the mid 15th century. Today, Town Council meetings still take place in the Council Chambers, a testament to the historically collaborative nature of the building.

The Guildhall is a University of York building, and their thinking around skills, industry, collaboration and innovation resonates strongly with one of our new strategic areas of focus this year - to enhance the supply of FinTech skills in the North. Further, the Guildhall is also in partnership Barclays Eagle Labs, and is place where innovators and financial services come together to network and collaborate.

The Guildhall is an iconic and historic space but is not a purpose-built conference centre. Therefore, in a breakaway from FinTech North tradition, we have decided to concentrate the main networking opportunity in an evening Summit social, open to all.

Networking is one of the most valuable aspects of our events to our community, so we wanted to make sure this was reflected in our thinking for the Summit. With this in mind, our usual conference networking, instead of taking place across the day, will be concentrated into a dedicated evening networking event in a format entirely new to FinTech North and open to our entire community.

We have decided to split the content across two days, reflected in our ticketing structure. You can purchase individual day tickets for £149.99. The Summit Pass can be purchased for £249.99, which gives you access to both days of the Summit. You can also purchase a ticket for the networking event alone, for £49.99. All these tickets provide you with access to the networking event.
