On 1 November, Northern Composers' Network (NCN), supported by UYMP, are hosting a relaunch day at York St John University. This is open to any composer at any stage of their career who has a connection to the North of England.NCN was set up in around 2018/19 with the intention of providing composers—at all stages of their career—a platform for opportunity as well as to network with other composers in the North of England. Currently, there are around 25 “official” members of NCN. This number has likely reduced since the last meet up pre-pandemic, though.
The NCN “relaunch day” will take place at York St John University on Saturday 1 November between 10.00–16.00.
The day will consist of:
- A selection of current NCN members having sketches or short pieces workshopped by pianist, Hilary Suckling
- a short talk about UYMP’s approach to promotion and publishing from UYMP staff
- a talk by David Lancaster about a recent piano recording project he led with other UYMP and NCN composers
lots of opportunities to chat with other composers
- an open discussion about the future of NCN and what composers would like out of it
If you are interested in attending this day, or even joining the NCN mailing list for future events, please fill in the following form:
