🏋️♂️ Northamptonshire’s Strongest Man 2026 🏋️♀️The Corby Highland Gathering is a proud local tradition rooted in the town’s Scottish heritage. Its first edition dates back to 1968, when Bill Rutherford and pipe major Ron Stewart—drawing inspiration from the success of the Corby pipe band and the town’s strong Scottish community—launched the event.Back then it was supported by the British Steel Corporation and held at the Welfare Club Grounds on Occupation Road.  Over time, even when the steelworks closed in the early 1980s, community support and local government stepped in to keep the Gathering alive. 
Over the decades, the Gathering has evolved into a vibrant two-day festival held at Charter Field in Corby’s Old Village, drawing visitors from across the country (and beyond) to celebrate Highland culture through pipe band contests, dancing, traditional games, food, crafts, and family entertainment.It remains a community-led event powered by volunteers and local sponsors, embodying Corby’s enduring identity as “Little Scotland.”
