The Northampton Area League of Women Voters is hosting two Candidates Forums on October 27 and 28 prior to the general Election on November 4, 2025. On October 28 we will hear from candidates for School Committee at-Large and for School Committee in Ward 2.
We encourage all Northampton voters to participate in the forums, either live or virtually. The importance of local elections have grown exponentially, as we face unprecedented challenges: to protect our democratic institutions, balance state and local funding to replace lost federal funds, to maintain basic social services, to build affordable housing, and not last, but first - to fully fund our public schools so they can provide quality education for every student. The school committee also faces new challenges: how to resist attempts to ban books and censor historical information about the invaluable contribution of women and minorities to American life. Plus the challenge to teach students how to navigate w world of mis-and dis-information, enabling them to engage as global citizens working for more just and democratic societies.
Everyone is encouraged to submit questions on our webpage at www.lwvnorthamptonarea.org. Questions will also be collected from forum attendees who can submit questions on notecards.
