Flamenco Fever has been interviews by over a dozen media outlets for the tragic loss of the NEA Challenge America Grant.
It took 2 years, over $1500 and hundreds of hours to win the $10000 last year, only to have it canceled by the incoming administration that changed the rules on a RFP that was won last year.
With their new space just opening in Kessler Park to serve the Oak Cliff community, the timing could not be worse. To make matters worse, the executive orders are changing the rules on Regional, State and City grant funds. And Changing them RETROACTIVELY. Which means that nearly every RFP and Application made to the previous guidelines is not a valid use of funds.
They are not giving us a chance to re-write our proposals to fit the new guidelines, they are restricting disbursements and undoing the work of thousands distributors of funds, the applicants and reviewers who carefully vetted each award.
We are calling you, the public, to help us get through this frustrating and disappointing time. Please consider donating to Flamenco Fever and La Cantera Arts Conservatory this North Texas Giving Day!!!
Flamenco Fever (FF) has made the cathartic art of flamenco accessible to DFW by bringing premiere musicians and dancers to entertain and educate across a range of venues for decades. Now, in FF’s most important endeavor to date, La Cantera Arts Conservatory (LCAC), is carving out space to inspire the community with not only flamenco's mental, physical, and spiritual benefits, but in a wide range of activities that are attracting diverse participants beyond their niche.
