North Sydney Junior Chess Club is a new club that started in 2023, held at Cameragal Montessori School, 49 Ridge Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060 (Octagon on Level 1 in the back of the building) on Wednesday afternoons. Each week, we run a lesson that is appropriate to the skill level of the children that we have attending. Beginners will learn how to play and all of the rules of chess, progressing to learn some basic checkmates and strategies later on. Intermediate and Advanced players will learn about opening theories, tactics, strategies, and endgames, improving their game and expanding the calculation skills and foresight that they have already been developing. Children will also be given time to play friendly and competitive games against each other and to solve simulated chess puzzles.
Workbooks are also available to aid your child’s development and for extra practice at home. For more information on our Workbooks, please click here.
