North Shore Waterfront Walk & Talk to Build a Strong Parks System
About this Event
Join us for our North Shore Waterfront Walk & Talk on Staten Island
Join New Yorkers for Parks, Staten Island Urban Center, Friends of Tompkinsville Park, St. George Civic Association, Kayak Staten Island, Bay St. & Beyond, H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths, Waterfront Alliance, NYLCV, ConEd and partners for a community walk exploring the future of Staten Island’s North Shore waterfront, parks, and public spaces.
Together, we’ll visit key sites along the North Shore, hear from local advocates and community leaders, and discuss opportunities to improve waterfront access, strengthen and connect our parks, expand open space, and build a more resilient and connected shoreline.
The North Shore is home to major investments and exciting plans for the future, but important questions remain about public access, recreation, waterfront resilience, park funding, and community priorities. This guided walk will provide an opportunity to learn, share ideas, and connect with neighbors working to shape the future of Staten Island’s waterfront.
Date: Saturday, June 27
Time: 11 AM – 1 PM
Meeting Location: Steps of Borough Hall (Richmond Terrace & Bay Street, across from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal)
The walk will include stops highlighting:
• Waterfront access and recreation opportunities
• Expanding and connecting Tompkinsville Parks
• Minthorne Street Open Street
• Current and future North Shore waterfront projects
• The role of parks and open space in creating healthier, more resilient neighborhoods
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged.
