Join safe streets advocates and organizations in communities north of Boston for a coalition-building bike ride from Somerville to Lynn.About this Event
This ride ride will be a relaxed and convivial opportunity to connect with fellow advocates, share knowledge and success stories, and build community for future advocacy opportunities. The full route is 27 miles, mostly on shared-use paths, with options to join at later points along the route.

Anyone who...
- Self-identifies as a safe streets advocate,
- Lives in a community north of Boston (Somerville, Cambridge, Medford, Arlington, Everett, Malden, Revere, Lynn, & more),
- Is over 16 years old,
- And feels comfortable with the route described below...

What is the route?
We'll start at Russell Field in Cambridge (near Alewife Station). We'll follow the Somerville Community Path and Wellington Greenway in Medford before getting on the Northern Strand Trail behind Encore Casino in Everett. We'll stay on the Northern Strand through Lynn, where we'll turn around and head back to Everett for food and drinks at Short Path Distillery.
How long is the route and what is it like?
The full route is ~27 miles with little elevation. 99% is on shared-use paths separated from motor vehicle traffic. Less than 1% is on neighborhood streets with unprotected bike lanes, including at crossings of three major roads in Cambridge and Somerville.
Do I have to join the ride at the starting point?
No! We will make several stops during the ride to allow community members across the route area to join closer to their homes. You can join at:
- Ride Start @ 10:30AM: Cambridge -- Russell Field (27 mi ride)
- Stop 1 @ 11:30AM: Everett -- Northern Strand Greenway Trailhead, behind Encore Casino (20 mi ride)
- Stop 2 @ 11:55AM: Malden -- B2C Bike Kitchen (16 mi ride)
- Stop 3 @ 12:25PM: Revere -- Linden Square (13 mi ride)
- Stop 4 @ 12:55PM: Lynn -- Northern Strand Linear Park (9 mi ride)
- Ride End @ 2:00PM: Everett -- West & Wellington Plaza (0 mi ride)
- Food & drinks @ 2:30PM: Everett -- Short Path Distillery
Will there be support along the route?
Yes, there will be route leads, marshalls, and sweeps to ensure everyone stays safe. We will also have light snacks along the way.
What should I bring?
While you are the expert on your own comfort and needs while biking, we recommend that you bring:
- A helmet
- Clothes you like to bike in (including bike gloves)
- Sunglasses
- Water
- Snacks
- A payment method of your choice for after-ride refreshments
