North Melbourne and the ever-changing politics of heritage protection
About this Event
In July 2025, following years of work including by HHP and its members, the North Melbourne Heritage Review was approved and the Melbourne Planning Scheme updated: the most significant improvement in statutory heritage protection since Graeme Butler’s 1983 Conservation Study.
Join former Melbourne City Councillor Rohan Leppert (heritage portfolio lead 2015-2024) for a discussion about the politics of heritage protection: how we got here, what governments can learn from the North Melbourne experience, and where are we going amid new waves of policy and political uncertainty across all levels of government.
TICKETS - please note that free tickets for current HHP members will be available first, with tickets available to the general public from 7th July for a cost of $5 each.
