About this Event
Join us on 5th December between 9.30am and 3.30pm for the 1 year Anniversary of the North East Rewilding Network (NERN).
Funded by Rewilding Britain and managed by Climate Action North Rewilding Team, the North East Rewilding Network supports the Rewilding Britain network enabling rewilders across the North East to join a supportive, informative and useful network, find out more about projects across the North East, connect with other members, take part in site visits, obtain information and support about rewilding, undertake training and most importantly be part of a vibrant and exciting new all inclusive network here in the North East.
Since we launched in November 2023 we have built up a network of over 120 members and we want to celebrate this as well as connect with new members who wish to join the Network.
We have an excellent panel of speakers all sharing their stories and there will also be an opportunity to sign up for the North East Rewilding Network on the day.
Sara King - Rewilding Manager, Rewilding Britain - Sara will be talking about the Rewilding Britain Network, the Innovation Funding package which has funded the 3 North East projects and the wider strategic plans for Rewilding Britain. Sara also heads up the UK Rewilding Network for Rewilding Britain.
Sharon Lashley - CEO, Climate Action North - Sharon will provide an update on the North East Rewilding Network, one year on including updates on funding, developments for the Network linking with local and regional rewilding projects, making connections between land, sea and community. The NERN will continue to expand the support for the growing movement of rewilding land and sea practitioners across the North of England, wherever they are in their journey to restore nature and ecosystems. We also want to work with our members to drive forward Year 2 of the network.
Dr. Catherine Barlow - Project Manager, Southern Uplands Partnership - Golden Eagles Project - Catherine will be speaking about the fundraising campaign to launch as a standalone charity named RUN (Restoring Upland Nature) in 2025, so that other areas of the UK (including the North East) where vitally important species have been missing for generations can benefit from the groundbreaking learnings and techniques of the partnership project.
