The multi award winning Lena Jonsson Trio continues to break new grounds around the world with their unique mix of deeply rooted Swedish folk, jazz, American old-time and electro acoustic sounds.
Lena Jonsson’s ability to balance this with innovative artistic sensibilities, sparkling joy of life and a charisma of a rock-star have made her one Scandinavia’s most visionary musicians.
LENA JONSSON TRIO
Lena Jonsson’s ability to balance a deep knowledge of traditional Swedish folk music with innovative artistic sensibilities, the sparkling joy of life, and the charisma of a rock star have made her one of Sweden’s most visionary musicians. She has created a unique style inspired by traditional Swedish music as well as rock, pop, and American old-time and bluegrass traditions.
Together with guitarist Ian Carr and bassist Krydda Sundström they create a virtuosic yet playful trio. In April 2023, the trio won Artist of the year at the Swedish Folk awards. Their album ”Stories from the Outside” won both a Swedish Grammis and the Manifest prize in 2021 and Album of the year by LIRA Music Magazine and song of the year by Swedish radio. They released their third album ”Elements” in June 2023.

Ponyfolk
Ponyfolk was formed in 2014 by Clifton Nesseth (vocals, fiddle) and Paul Sauey (vocals, guitar, bass pedals). Based out of Duluth and Minneapolis, MN, the pair’s multi-instrumentalist abilities and vocal harmonies have carved them out a reputation of creating maximalist soundscapes that are defined by droning layers of guitars, strings, and keyboard textures - undergirding emotionally evocative lyrical imagery. Mikey Marget (cello, vocals) joined in 2022. Heavily influenced by the Nisswa-stämma Nordic Music & Dance Festival, the band began exploring the intersection of Nordic & Americana music and is now co-producing Duluth-stämman in coordination with The Nordic Center of Duluth (June 13th & 14th, 2025). They are releasing their first album of traditional tunes in February of 2025, and will be studying music in Sweden this summer thanks to grants from American Scandinavian Foundation.
