Copenhagen Cantata Choir visits Helsinki 9 to 12 May 2024
About 30 singers from the Danish choir will be giving several concerts in Finland in May. The choir consists of mixed voices and is one of Copenhagen’s most prestigious and ambitious amateur choirs.
Have you ever wanted to hear “the sound” of composers from Denmark and other Nordic countries? Well, here’s your unique chance when Copenhagen Cantata Choir tours Finland and gives four concerts at three different locations.
The concerts will be a mixture of traditional Danish and Nordic compositions by Nielsen, Lange-Müller, la Cour, Gade and Ola Gjeilo, but also composers like Bruckner, Rheinberger and Brahms, so you’re in for a musical treat.
Copenhagen Cantata Choir was founded in 1984 and is one of the most ambitious choirs in Copenhagen. Although all choir members are amateurs and have singing as their hobby, the choir embarks, without hesitation, on performing great and challenging oratorios, when they perform their usual repertoire in Denmark.
A considerable part of the success of the choir is owed to Torben H. S. Svendsen, the choir’s conductor for the last 25 years.
