A former NBA center who played 11 seasons in the league, including time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Freedom has become internationally known for his outspoken advocacy on human rights and freedom of speech. He has spoken out on issues involving political oppression, religious freedom, and human rights abuses around the world, often at significant personal cost.
Freedom is also the author of the bestselling memoir In the Name of Freedom, which chronicles his journey from professional basketball player to global human rights advocate, detailing the challenges he faced after speaking out against authoritarian regimes and his fight for freedom and justice.
