All are welcome at the temple of the riff to celebrate the vinyl release of NON’s debut album ‘Vipassana’ where they’ll perform their first headlining set on Saturday the 20th of June at Shotkickers.Since their live debut in 2023, the instrumental outfit have been spreading their own brand of Eastern inspired psychedelic doom across venues in Melbourne, each show delivering a unique experience with improvised and extended jams. Now they plan to play the final version of the album, bringing their vision to life with special guests as they launch its physical release.
Joining them are their close friends and local disciples of the riff GIANT, who are fresh off their own almighty release ‘Beneath the Mountains’. The four piece delivers everything you love about stoner doom; big riffs, soaring solos, and of course, the evil groove.
Also joining NON are the crushingly heavy and dissonant SHIPYARD, bringing with them instrumental sonic destruction as they perform new music off their upcoming release, featuring the new track “Dry Dock”. Heavy, loud, intense, mesmerising, for fans of Om, Sunn, The Melvins and Bell Witch. Bring earplugs.
Opening up the night and making their debut are SKY SCRAPER SKY, a Melbourne two-piece built on big, overdriven riffs and a curling melodic instinct, their sound balances gritty hooks with monstrous enveloping beats — lean, loud, and immersive . Featuring Matt Dawkins (Lamassu) on guitar & vocals and Tim Byrne (Clagg) on drums, the duo evolve from their previous outing together in the cosmic stoner trio Olmeg to channel a raw DIY spirit into something immediate, volatile, and unmistakably their own.
NON’s new record and limited release merchandise will be available for purchase on the night, pre-orders available here https://nonriffs.bandcamp.com/
NON pays their respects to, and acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong peoples as the traditional owners of the land in which they perform on.
