Advocacy events take place in various cities throughout the region and gather artists, theoreticians, cultural workers and policy-makers with the intent to enable them to meet directly, communicate, and exchange experiences around the field of contemporary dance and the politics which concern it.
The event in Zagreb TRANSFORMATIVE POLICIES FOR DANCE hosted by ANTISEZONA and co-hosted by Nomad Dance Academy Slovenia in the frame of Choreographic Convention: BODIES IN FREE FALL, as part of LLB3 EU project, is representing the closing of the circle of this long term project: previous events happened in Skopje (2012), Sofija (2015), Belgrade (2017), on tour through Ljubljana, Zagreb, Beograd, Skopje, and Sofija (2017), and in Ljubljana (2019).
The focus of this event is to create strong and inspired international discussion about present and future structures for dance art in current EU landscape, with accent on research (dance, choreography, performance) as agent of creating and imagining sustainable and inclusive future.

The panel will discuss the positioning of contemporary dance in cultural and political strategies in the region. We will also explore the priorities for its development at the national and municipal levels and how these are being implemented in light of the acute needs and challenges facing the sector.

FUTURING: DANCE RESEARCH AS THE FOUNDATION OF A NEW DANCE INSTITUTION
We want to share ideas and examples of imagining and establishing a dance research institution that embodies the experiences and lessons learned in the dance field over the last 20 years. This panel will showcase research practices, community building, policy advocacy, sustainability, and other well-rooted, self-organised programs that have made dance in the region a credible and potent art and cultural practice.

Let’s create structures that care for artists and communities, are empowered by the knowledge accumulated in the dance field, and exemplify new models of production and intervention in society! Will this institution turn the paradigm of the traditional institution upside down by being inclusive, sensitive, and able to respond to the needs and life of the scene to which it belongs?
