Noir at the Bar

Step into the dark, haunting tales of masterful writers, groove to the inspiring tunes of a gifted jazz musician, and win exceptional prizes donated by local businesses in support of the Alabama literary community. This free event will feature eight award-winning authors, all reading enticing excerpts from their novels that range in genre from thriller and suspense to crime and mystery. Music will be performed by professional jazz musician Cashmere Williams, who was voted "Best Male Jazz Artist" by The Alabama Music Awards Committee. Throughout the evening, Valerie Bell, an ABC 33/40 News reporter, and avid supporter of the community, will be emceeing. In addition, there will be book sales and signings, and raffles offering prizes provided by local businesses that are sponsoring Noir at the Bar, including Cat-n-Bird, Books-A-Million, The Lumbar Restaurant, and The Red Cat [email protected] Place.

Noir at the Bar was created to support a facet of Alabama’s artistic community. While artists with physical mediums can display their art, and musical artists can perform their art, writers are limited when it comes to exhibiting their work. This event seeks to give them that opportunity. Take part in this extraordinary evening and join an amazing community passionate about supporting writers.
