About this Event
Description
In this class, we will be teaching the pentagram harness. This chest harness is a rope bondage classic for good reason, and is perfect for people wanting to take their skills to the next level. This harness focuses only on the upper body. If mobility issues are a concern, please tell the instructors prior to or during the class, as we are always happy to workshop modifications with participants! The pentagram harness cannot be easily self-tied, but you may tie on a pillow or chair if you do not have/want a tying partner. Time allowing, we will have an open lab until 9pm. If you are wanting to practice what you’ve learned, ask questions, or try something new, this is a great opportunity to do so!
Prerequisites
This class does not require much previous knowledge of rope bondage, but participants ideally should have some amount of experience tying. If you don’t, you are welcome to attend, but we may not be able to go over everything in as much detail as you need (Keep an eye out for one of our “Rope 101” classes!). Additionally, it will be helpful for participants to already know how to keep tension while tying, and be familiar with common rope bondage terminology.
Ideally you should go to a rope bite having cared for your body (arrive hydrated and well slept). Come with an open mindset and the willingness to learn and ask questions. You aren’t expected to partner with anyone or to tie during the event if you don’t want to. Advocate for yourself and your needs.
If you have any questions prior to class, please reach out to the organizers at [email protected] or message on Fetlife at NoCORopeBite.
What To Bring
- Safety shears (mandatory, can be purchased on site)
- 2-3 bundles (15ft-30ft) of rope (also for sale and we should have extra on loan, but can’t guarantee this)
- Limbs to tie (your own or another’s – If you come unpartnered, you might find another unpaired person, but if not, you can always take notes.)
- Note taking materials like a writing implement and paper
- Something to sit on like a yoga mat, blanket, or floor pads
- A note on clothing: You can stay as clothed as you want, and it is possible to tie over baggier clothing, but may take a bit more time. Tighter fitting clothing is typically easier to tie on. Don’t wear anything with metal in it as it can either cut into you or snag on rope (ie: no bras with underwire or pants with lots of metal buttons and zippers). Anyone is allowed to get topless, but you must keep some form of underwear on your lower half. Bring some warmer items, like a blanket or jacket that you can wrap around you if you get cold between ties. If you’re tying, it’s possible you’ll run a bit warmer, and may prefer to wear clothes you’ll stay cooler in.
Waiver and Rules (please sign prior to arrival)
Consent Is Important
- No one should pressure you to do anything that you don’t want to.
- Don't be pushy or demanding.
- Anything but an educated and informed yes is a no.
- Before you touch someone, be sure to ask permission.
- Even if someone asks you for help, ask everyone for permission to touch them or their items. They may want verbal help, but not be comfortable with physical help.
- If you feel like someone is not respecting this, speak up for yourself or come talk to either an instructor or anyone helping to run the event. If an instructor or someone running the event is causing the problem, please talk to an alternative organizer. You can always contact [email protected] or find us on Fetlife at NoCORopeBite.
Organizers & Instructors
- NoCO (Northern Colorado) Rope Bite has been hosting classes for a long time, but has changed hands over its years of being active. We are an educational group where you can come to learn about rope bondage. The goal of Rope Bite has always been to try and keep education affordable and accessible. We strive to keep that goal alive at our newest location with Awakening, and be a welcoming space for everyone. We aim to offer rope education for all skill levels and provide a social space for rope enthusiasts. Come learn and practice your skills alongside others and ideally gain some friends and insight along the way!
- Max (SincereThrill) has been involved in sex education for six years and in kink education for three. He is passionate about both tying and being tied in rope, and has been practicing both for nearly four years. With a pension for decorative, functional, and predicament bondage, Max knows how to make a tie both look pretty and serve a purpose. He loves finding new and innovative ways to utilize rope, while constantly seeking new experiences and knowledge. As Max takes on a more active role in the local kink community as an organizer and educator, he strives to foster inclusive, safe, and welcoming spaces. He looks forward to making new friends and providing places where people can be their best, kinky selves.
- Owen has been in the kink community for around a year and mostly fills the role of student-teacher. His main focus is finding creative ways to incorporate rope into other kinks. He loves organic and asymmetrical ties where he lets the rope go where it wants. Owen is hoping to help foster a community where everyone feels they can do their best work, and is happy to assist with any questions during class.
Abmith first began his journey into kink with rope about 6 years ago. He jumped in to help organize the Rope Bite back in November 2019 after some former organizers moved out of state. Aside from peak COVID times, he’s been trying to help host and create many local events, both social and educational. Abmith has an insatiable thirst for knowledge, but also deeply enjoys being able to share what he’s learned with others. He is continuing to grow all the time, and deeply enjoys being a sadistic ass when given the privilege. While being a decently prominent local organizer, he wants to stress that he hopes to continue to learn along with the community and provide spaces that feel helpful and as safe as they can be in this kinky, complicated world.
