Nobody @ ANTI-FRIEZE+ LA 2026

NoBody is a two-person exhibition created by Dar San Agustin and Valeria Costa. Each work considers the body as a vessel shaped by violence. Objects stand in as the subject, absorbing harm, desire, and labor over time. Bodies are stripped of anatomy and rendered into non-form, altered beyond their original function.

Transformation is not offered as resolution, but as a process that leaves residue. Violence operates materially through acts of containment, repetition, staining, encasing, and piercing. These gestures function as evidence of what bodies are forced to carry.

The exhibition holds tension between transformation lived within the body and transformation externalized through objects. Nobody asks what happens when bodies are made to contain more than they should, and what it costs to keep holding. The work does not resolve this overflowing loop. Survival here is cumulative and uneven, marked by continuous damage. The body persists in alteration, reduced to the container. Is it still a body?

ANTI-FRIEZE+ LA Performance Festival runs at the REEF February 28 - March 1, 2026. NOBODY shows in MM/DD/YYYY at 4:30PM each evening, and runs until 8:30PM.

Material Advisory

This exhibition includes artworks made using real human blood as an artistic medium. The blood was drawn consensually and handled in accordance with appropriate safety standards. Some viewers may find this material sensitive. Viewer discretion is advised.

ANTI-FRIEZE+ LA will defrost TEN select rooms on the REEF’s 12th floor to display original happenings of emerging, local artists working across modalities in collaboration with the CalArts REEF Residency.

A showcase rooted in time-based experiences, the ANTI-FRIEZE+ LA work in progress performances recontextualize and reinterpret the “classic” art influence, multi-disciplinary movement practices, and cross-sector collaborations in the once, commercial wholesale furniture showrooms of South Broadway.

Featuring the work of CalArts Reef Residents and Associates A’JaeCea Carlie, Alec Anderson-Carrasco, Alex Taylor, Dar San Agustin, Dionne Robinson, Erika Keck, Genevieve Fowler, Gigi Ramsland, Hu Di, Kensaku Shinohara, Kiko Thomas, Siyona Ravi, Siqi Fan, Sining Zhu, and Valeria Costa.

Due to the REEF’s policies, attendees must RSVP in advance of the event.

The artists of ANTI-FRIEZE+ LA are suggesting a donation of $5+ be made to L.A. Taco (https://givebutter.com/la-taco) by those attending the festival. We stand in solidarity with our immigrant community members who are under attack and the partners who have responded with courage and conviction. We hope our festival can be a space for community and care and that during a weekend of artistic celebration, economic investment is still filtered to the community workers who are protecting those who make Los Angeles a vibrant and culture filled community.

Anti-Frieze+ LA: Performance Festival is located across 10 showrooms on the 12th floor of the REEF Building (1933 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90007). Once you arrive, please check in with the security desk located in the ground floor lobby. They will direct you to the elevators to the 12th floor.

Secure parking is available in the REEF lot adjacent to the building. Metered street parking is also available next to the building along S. Broadway and the surrounding streets.
