Steeped in the songwriting traditions of their rock and roll forefathers, Portland-based Noble Strangers has evolved into a tight and versatile indie rock band, recalling the melodic inclinations of some of their favorite groups like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen, Wilco, and the Band to name a few. Drawing from their favorite elements of the British Invasion, Dylan-esque songwriters, rock ‘n’ roll, blues, pop, alt country and Indie and Psych Rock music, Noble Strangers hits the scene with a refreshing sound that celebrates their many influences without feeling indebted to them, like they’ve fallen inside their parent’s record collection. are a quartet based in Portland, Oregon. They perform a repertoire of Celtic folk tunes, infused with influences from other European ethnic music. They incorporate elements of formal art music such as counterpoint, classical voice-leading, and unusual meter changes which add complex undertones without overwhelming the folk traditions they borrow from.
