About this Event
Design and sculpt and embellish your own “Noble Beasties” from air-dry clays over this 2-day workshop with master artist, Helen Shafer Garcia
These beautiful noble beings entice a sense of prominence and attitude in a whimsical way. The gathering of Beasties will intuitively tell a narrative and are structured with paper clay, an air-dried clay, that is easy to work with. The techniques for sculpting will include stamp designs, molds, and other thoughtful textures. Animal faces will be created with a step-by-step process. Helen will also have some face molds to work with.
You will design 2 small stamps and learn stamp carving. These will be used for surface designs on the clay. Learn how to work with wire for attachments. Add as many do- dads and embellishments as you want to tell your story. We’ll work with antiquing techniques with acrylics to define and age the creatures. Iridescent and metallic colors will add a touch of sage and prominence.
