About this Event

Overview

Have you ever wanted to paint using watercolor, but were too afraid you’d lose control? Watercolors sometimes have their own agenda, don’t they? This course will continue to build on the basics of watercolorists' tools, and take you through various techniques, used in watercolor painting, to help you feel more in control. No stress, no mess; just fun, culminating in you creating your very own watercolor masterpieces!

Schedule

1. Class begins with an introduction for students to the class and tools

2. The instructor will describe and demonstrate the various techniques, while having the class follow the instructor’s examples

3. After creating a “techniques sheet” together, the instructor will display watercolor painting models for the class to select from, for them to sketch onto their papers

4. Class will use the techniques they have at their disposal to create their own masterpieces, either from one of the models or by creating something entirely on their own using the techniques they have learned

Meet the Instructor

Born an Italian/Mexican in San Jose, CA, Keith attended the Northern Arizona University, in Flagstaff, AZ, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communications.

Keith did various graphic arts/design and multimedia work for MonteVerde Designs and Sirius Publishing, Inc, eventually securing a position as Associate Art Director for Alpha Omega Publications, and then a Design Specialist for Gold Canyon Candle Co. Keith designed an art curriculum for an arts school, started a mural painting business, and began writing/illustrating children’s books. Keith obtained his Master’s degree in Elementary Education, and has been a third grade teacher for almost a decade. Keith has two published children’s books on Amazon, and is working to get his books published through traditional publishers.

With over 35 years of art education and experience, he is working to make his online artstore website prosper, while teaching art classes for the community.

Keith believes everyone has artistic talent. “Who grew up not having a box of crayons or markers, which they used to draw on EVERYTHING in the house? The instinct to create is in us. We just found other interests along the way that pushed that instinct back. My goal is to reawaken that natural talent that lives in everyone.”
