NO NUKES! NO NUCLEAR SUBS! NO AUKUS! NO WAR ON CHINA! STOP RAYTHEON'S WAR PROFITEERING!
In observance of International Human Rights Day and in support of the Treaty on Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, North Texas anti-war activists will gather in front of the Raytheon building in the 6000 block of Lemmon Ave (near Inwood) on December 10, 2021 to call for the accountability of war industry profiteers and an end to the weapons of war they manufacture.
In solidarity with the Sydney Anti-AUKUS Coalition, we will join with other groups across the globe for an International Day of Action to oppose and draw attention to the recently-announced Australia/UK/US military partnership (AUKUS) which will give Australia nuclear-powered submarines, and which promises to escalate the tensions between the West and China.
WHAT: anti-nuclear-proliferation/anti-AUKUS protest
WHEN: Friday, December 10, 11:45am – 1:15pm
WHERE: 6000 block of Lemmon Ave (near the intersection w/Inwood), Dallas
Messaging will include:
--NUCLEAR WEAPONS ARE ILLEGAL
--RAYTHEON IS COMPLICIT
--NO NUCLEAR SUBS
--NO AUKUS
--NO WAR ON CHINA
--NO NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION
--HOLD WAR INDUSTRY PROFITEERS ACCOUNTABLE
--RAYTHEON: STOP MAKING A KILLING ON KILLING
We support of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and stand in opposition to the ongoing production of nuclear weapons by Raytheon.
• On January 22, 2021, the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons was adopted as international law.
• In July of 2021, Raytheon was awarded a cost-plus-fixed-fee deal for the engineering and manufacturing development stage of the U.S. Air Force's Long Range Standoff Weapons system, a new nuclear-capable, air-launched cruise missile that will be carried by B-52 and B-21 bombers. The LRSO contract will pay up to $2 billion dollars to Raytheon.
• The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons outlaws such work.
• While the Treaty lacks legal force here because the United States is one of the few countries that has not yet signed on to it, the moral force, diplomatic and trade impacts of this global condemnation of nuclear weapons cannot be overlooked.
• Show your support of the Treaty and your opposition to Raytheon profiting from the production of a new generation of nuclear weapons by participating in this demonstration.
Co-hosts: the Nuclear Free World and World Peace & Nonviolence Committees of the Dallas Peace & Justice Center, CODEPINK Greater Dallas, Pax Christi Dallas, Veterans for Peace North Texas, DSA North Texas Anti-war Working Group
