About this Event

Join Community Resources for Children and Napa Moms for a special screening of No Country for Mothers, a documentary film from Moms First and Reshma Saujani that explores motherhood, work, family support, and the culture wars that keep women divided.
The film follows a growing national movement challenging the false choices often placed on mothers, such as working vs. stay-at-home or "girlboss" vs. "tradwife," and argues that the real issue is structural. American families have been set up to fail, and meaningful change requires solutions that support all parents and caregivers.

Questions We'll Explore Together

Following the screening, participants will be invited to reflect on the film and engage in a facilitated community conversation. Topics may include:

  • Research shows that access to paid family leave, affordable child care, and other family-supporting resources can have a significant impact on maternal health and family well-being. What supports are working well for families in our community, and where do you see the greatest unmet needs?
  • The film suggests that many challenges facing families are shaped by systems and policies rather than individual choices. Where do you see that showing up in our community?
  • What does a family-friendly Napa County look like?
  • If you could make one change that would improve life for families in our community, what would it be?
