NMC x BLACKHOUSE COLLECTIVE present: WOODBLoK TRUNK SHOW | A Contemporary Salon of New Sound and Performance Works
Saturday, November 7 4-11.
An evening of new music experimental performance and conversations with the people making it.
NMC welcomes Black House Collective for a contemporary salon that brings together composers, musicians, and artists to share works, exchange ideas, and spend time in good company.
Founded by composer Hunter Long, Blackhouse Collective is an experimental new music lab that is devoted to developing new approaches to composition and collaboration. Through workshops, performances, and interdisciplinary projects, they create opportunities for musicians and composers to develop ad present adventurous new work.
Throughout the evening, we’ll hear performances from an exceptional group of musicians working across contemporary classical music, improvisation, and experimental sound. Featuring members of Blackhouse Collective alongside Amorsima Trio, a Texas-based string ensemble dedicated to commissioning and performing music by living composers. We’ll also hear from MECCA, whose immersive installation HOME is currently on view at NMC, for an artist talk exploring the ideas and processes behind the work.
More than a traditional concert, this is an invitation to gather. Composers are encouraged to bring their ideas and talk with the artists, meet other composers and share what you’re working on, or just settle in and listen. A salon in the spirit of curiosity, collaboration, and community.
Featuring:
Victoria Donaldson • Alex Richard • Hunter Long • Jessica Wu • Louise Fritensky • Andrew Rutten • Amorsima Trio • James Talambas • and more!
