SALSA (Level 1)

On Sundays we offer Salsa On2 in Woodbridge. The On2 system was organized and popularized by Eddie Torres, and is often called "New York Style Salsa." This class will be taught by Dany Joshua, Director at Scarlet Mambo Dance Studio, located in Edison, NJ.

This Salsa (Level 1) program is a series of beginner-friendly classes designed to prepare participants for social dancing.

Participants gain a foundation by acquiring knowledge and practice in basic steps, timing, coordination, dance positions, transitions, turns-in-place, traveling turns, and partner-work sequences.

We strongly encourage everyone in our Level 1 program to begin social dancing from the very first class. The application of knowledge, especially when its fresh in the mind, is essential for progress. A good mindset is to focus on the little that you learned in class, rather than all that you still have to learn. Continue to make progress on the knowledge that you are acquiring along the way and you will soon begin to feel accomplished.

BACHATA (Open Level)

This Bachata program is an open level class designed with both the new and experienced dancer in mind. The curriculum is designed to develop participants for social dancing. As in all of our programs, we use a curated collection of shines (footwork patterns), drills, and partnerwork patterns to build up all of the foundational skills the participant needs to become proficient as social dancers.

The shines and patterns in this progressive program will begin by grounding the movements in the foundations of the dance. By the last week, the program will reach an advanced beginner level/intermediate level.

We encourage participants to glean what they can from the lessons without taking on the pressure of learning and remembering the shines and patterns in their entirety.

These classes will be taught by Steve Santos, Director at NJ Salsa.

All classes are held downstairs, and the social will be on the main floor.
