Nestled in the heart of Delhi, the Nizamuddin area is a timeless pocket of spiritual serenity and cultural richness. A heritage walk through this historic neighborhood is not just a stroll through narrow lanes and old stone buildings—it is a journey through centuries of devotion, poetry, music, and mysticism. Dominated by the legacy of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, one of the greatest Sufi saints of the Indian subcontinent, and enriched by the verses of Mirza Ghalib, one of Urdu’s most celebrated poets,(who is buried in the vicinity) this area offers a rare blend of the spiritual and the artistic.
Main landmarks of the walk :
· Chillah of Nizammuddin
· Pateh shah Ki dargah (Hazrat Utawale and his fast track wish fulfillment)
· Chausath Khamba (Akbar’s foster brother’s tomb) accompanied by some interesting stories about the intrigues in the Mughal court by Akbar’s milk mothers and their families
· Ghalib Ki mazaar (stories of his very colorful life and times) · Atagah khan’s Tomb
· Dargah of Nizamuddin, Khusrau , later mughals and the Baoli (stepwell).
