Elise
Absurd, depressed, and completely hilarious. Elise is a comedian who keeps things honest and unhinged in the best way. In 2025, she performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and currently produces her own comedy variety show, Hot Takes. For this Ninja Matinee, she’ll be opening the show with stand-up and emceeing the entire afternoon.

Storytown Village

A reimagined version of Storytown, Storytown Village delivers a smaller, looser, and moodier sound with an emphasis on songs and storytelling. Featuring Guy Story (acoustic guitar, octave mandolin, vocals), Rick Wagner (bass), Tony Cruz (percussion), and Kayla Williams (viola), the quartet blends beloved favorites with newer material in an intimate and evocative style.

Dorothy & Shu

Dorothy Cowfield and Shu Nakamura are a guitar-and-vocal duo whose musical partnership began in high school. Their decades-long friendship shines through heartfelt songs, rich vocal harmonies, and warm onstage chemistry. After following separate musical paths for many years, they've reunited to share an intimate and memorable acoustic performance.

Baikin

Baikin is a Brooklyn-based Japunklyn rock power trio blending Japanese punk attitude with indie rock energy. Featuring Ai Matsui (guitar/vocals), Eri Tada (bass), and Shu Nakamura (drums/vocals), the band is known for loud, catchy originals, high-energy performances, and songs that have been featured multiple times on WFMU.

Shu Nakamura Band

Led by Nagoya, Japan–born, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer Shu Nakamura, the band combines Japanese indie rock, memorable melodies, and dynamic live performances. Joined by Derek Cheever (bass), Garry Newland (keys), and Takuto Fukushima (drums), the group delivers an original blend of rock, pop, and Japanese influences.
