Introduction
International Artists Explore Henry Moore's Legacy
"NINE POINTS of VIEW" brings together a diverse group of international artists, each with a unique visual language, to create a multifaceted dialogue around a central artistic anchor: the legacy of Henry Moore. Known for his monumental semi-abstract bronzes and his masterful drawings, Moore’s work persistently explored the human form, its relationship to the natural landscape, and the power of materiality and abstraction.
This exhibition does not seek to imitate Moore but to engage with his core principles—the interplay of internal and external form, the dialogue between figure and environment, and the expressive potential of line, mass, and texture. From nine distinct global perspectives, the artists extend this conversation into the contemporary realm through the mediums of painting, drawing, and printmaking.
Each artist, in their own way, investigates the boundaries of perception. They fragment and reassemble form, explore the kinetics of color, delve into personal and cultural memory, and blur the lines between the figurative and the abstract, the human and the natural world. Together, they form a constellation of viewpoints, orbiting the central theme and offering a rich, polyphonic response to the enduring questions of form and existence that Moore so elegantly posed.
The Artists & Their Viewpoints
Joanna JANOWSKA-AUGUSTYN (Poland) brings a philosophical and technical rigor to her printmaking. Her work explores complex structures and digital-aesthetic dialogues, offering a contemporary, meditative point of view on order and creation.
Lea JERLAGIC (Bosnia and Herzegovina) merges Eastern woodblock printing techniques with Western concepts of synesthesia. Her viewpoint is one of sensory fusion, exploring human nature through a lens inspired by spiritual traditions.
Wai LEE (S. Korea) offers a unique perspective where visual art and musical composition converge. Using glass as her primary metaphor and material, her viewpoint transforms solid form into a lyrical exploration of space and connection.
Andreea RUS (Romania) presents a viewpoint that elegantly negotiates the space between abstraction and figuration. Her PhD research in Visual Arts informs a practice that is both intellectually grounded and intuitively expressive.
Sorin SCURTULESCU (Romania) provides a dynamic, kinetic viewpoint. His vibrant oils on canvas explore the energy of outdoor contemplation and the dissolution of focal points, capturing the very movement of seeing itself.
Veronika SPLEISS (Germany) contributes a bold, graphic viewpoint she terms "Narratio Graphica." Her work fuses comic detail with abstract form to create complex visual narratives that play with order and multiplicity.
Maria TRILLIDOU (Cyprus) explores a hybrid, post-humanist viewpoint. Through mixed-media works that combine industrial and natural materials, she visualizes the fluid, entangled states between plant, animal, and human forms.
Adrianna WASINSKA-FABIAN (Australia) brings a viewpoint deeply rooted in nature and equestrian life. Her distinctive style merges traditional drawing with abstract interpretations, reflecting a passionate naturalist’s observation of the world.
Shui-Lyn WHITE (South Africa/UK) offers a poignant viewpoint on identity and impermanence. Drawing on Zen painting and expressionism, her ethereal monotypes explore themes of belonging, memory, and the cross-cultural dialogue that defines a sense of home.
Curatorial Statement
This exhibition is conceived as a spectrum of artistic inquiry, with the spirit of Henry Moore as its gravitational center. Moore believed in "truth to material" and the power of art to express a universal humanist vision. The nine artists here, though vastly different in style and origin, each uphold this truth in their chosen mediums—whether oil/acrylic paint, ink, pencil, or print.
Their "points of view" are not merely stylistic choices but are fundamental ways of processing and understanding the world. By presenting them together, "NINE POINTS of VIEW" celebrates the diversity of contemporary artistic practice while affirming the timeless nature of core artistic pursuits – to find new ways of seeing our shared reality.
