1. juunil esineb Noblessneri Valukojas ainulaadne multitalent Nile Rodgers oma projektiga CHIC. Muusikamaailmas pikalt tegutsenud Rodgers on tänaseks saavutanud legendi staatuse. „Tänane maailm on minu jaoks kummaline, me ripume reaalsuse küljes kümne küünega... Kuidas me siia jõudsime? Üks asi, mis on aga kuradi kindel, on see, et me vajame jätkuvalt muusikat,“ on Rodgers öelnud.
Nile Rodgers on helilooja, produtsent, arranžeerija ja kitarrist, kes on võitnud mitmeid Grammysid ning kes ei rahuldu tavapärasega. Ta nihutab pidevalt muusikalisi piire ning loob ainulaadseid ja erakordseid muusikamaastikke.
Rodgersi tuntuim hitt on „Le Freak“, mis on ühtlasi enim müüdud singel Atlantic Recordsi ajaloos ning Rodgersi lugu „Good Times“ võib lugeda hip-hopi aluseks. Oma väsimatu töö ja hoomamatult laiahaardelise loomingu tõttu on Nile Rodgers valitud Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’i liikmeks ning hiljuti nimetati ta ka Abbey Road stuudio loovjuhiks – esimeseks omataoliseks legendaarse stuudio ajaloos. Rodgersi tegemiste hulgas on ka esinemised Glastonbury ja Coachella festivalidel, seejuures nimetati just tema kontserdid festivalide parimaks. BBC nimetas Rodgersi bändi esinemise parimaks otseülekande etteasteks.
Esimeste albumite hulka, mille järgi Rodgers tantsis, kuulusid näiteks Donna Summeri „Love Your Body“ ja Village People’i „San Fransisco“. „See oli kuum! Nile Rodgers & CHIC andsid hiljuti välja oma esimese stuudioalbumi, mis kannab nime „It’s About Time“. Album vallutas Suurbritannia albumite edetabeli esikümne ning pälvis kiidusõnu nii muusikasõpradelt kui kriitikutelt.
„Nagu Bowie ikka ütles – me alati püüame oma värvipaletti kirkamaks muuta,“ ütleb Nile muusika loomise kohta. „Me oleme alati uute alade otsingutel, otsime uusi viise, kuidas inimeste tundekeeli puudutada, uusi viise, kuidas nende jalgu puudutada. Ja selle all ei pea ma silmas mitte jalamassaaži, vaid ma tahan inimesed tantsima panna! Kui sa saad inimese käest kätte ürgse reaktsiooni, siis pole artisti jaoks sellest midagi paremat.“

Unique multi-talent Nile Rodgers & CHIC will perform in Tallinn on June 1st at Noblessneri Valukoda. Rodgers has been active in the music world for a long time and has achieved the status of a legend. “This world is peculiar to me now, we are hanging on by our fingernails… How did we get here? The one thing that is absolutely fucking consistent is we’re still going to need music”, Rodgers has said.
Nile Rodgers is a composer, producer, arranger, and a guitarist who has won several Grammys and is never satisfied with anything less than incredible. He constantly pushes musical boundaries and creates unique and extraordinary musical landscapes.
Rodgers' best-known hit "Le Freak" is also the best-selling single in Atlantic Records' history, and Rodgers' song "Good Times" can be considered the starting point of hip-hop. Due to his tireless and incredibly extensive work, Nile Rodgers has been elected a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and was recently named the creative director of Abbey Road Studio, the first of its kind in the history of the legendary studio. Rodgers has performed at the Glastonbury and Coachella festivals, and his concerts were named the best of the festivals. The BBC named Rodgers band the best live performance.

I didn’t know how to do ‘the hustle’ or any disco dancing, but I learned on the spot… and I decided I needed to be part of dance music all my life. That was the turning point”, Rodgers recalled.

“As Bowie used to always say, we’re always trying to increase the colors on our palette," says Nile about creating music. “We’re always searching for new territory, for new ways to touch people’s emotions, new ways to touch their souls, new ways to touch their feet. What I mean by feet is not a foot massage, but to make ‘em dance [laughs], to make them just respond to the music. When you get that primal response from a person, when an artist is able to do that, there is no greater reward.”
