In Nikolai Gogol’s short story The Diary of a Madman, Poprishchin is a lowly St. Petersburg civil servant driven mad by his lack of status and his confusion at a changing world. Tom Schubert comes spectacularly unhinged in the title role along with actors Albert Baker, Sarah O’Donnell and Luisa Menzen.
