Fashion in Art Monthly Nights at The Joslyn events are evenings for art immersion. Come out for art talks, art making, special programs, and tasty food and drinks (for purchase). The Joslyn’s collection offers an opportunity to explore fashion across time and cultures, with a variety of activities.
A look at the fun this month from 5–8 pm:
• Begin at our Welcome Table in the Hawks Pavilion! Pick up a program and map for the evening. We can let you know about membership opportunities, upcoming programs, our Bloomberg Connects digital guide, and Art Card self-guide resources. We also can help with any accessibility needs.
• At the 6 pm Curator Conversation program*, Taylor J. Acosta, PhD, Chief Curator & Director of Collections, and a recent addition to the Museum’s curatorial team, Elise Armani, Assistant Curator of Twentieth Century Art, will talk about how fashion’s power to express identity, status, and much more has shaped our world and our art.
• Enjoy performances by local artists—Gauri Ratheesh Nair, an Indian Classical Dancer, and the Raíces de México group performing folkloric dances—with short talks about the traditional clothing they wear while dancing.
• In the studio, create your own work of art with teaching artist CaSandra Johnson.
• Check out our Art Cart station, with opportunities to touch hands-on materials and talk about art with our friendly Gallery Volunteers.
• Drop-In Sketching! We have all the materials you need for sketching—a great way to slow down and look carefully at what you see.
• The Founder’s Room is designated as a quiet space for this event, stocked with an array of books and games.
• Don’t forget to check out more great spaces—The Cafe offers food and drink for sale. The Shop has beautiful art items for all ages and interests. If you are part of an intergenerational group, be sure to visit Art Works: A Place for Curiosity, an interactive space with nine different art activity stations (children must be accompanied by adults).
*Assistive listening system is available in Abbott Hall for Curator Conversation programs.
American Sign Language interpretation available by request, with three weeks notice; email [email protected].
Generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.
