Bold Movements in 20th-Century Art Monthly Nights at The Joslyn are FREE evenings for art immersion. Come out for gallery talks, live music, art making, special programs, and tasty food and drinks (for purchase). This month we’re delving into the 20th-century art collection; the expansion of The Joslyn allowed the museum to create gallery spaces dedicated solely to art made during the years of 1900–2000, a time of immense change and innovation in the art world.
A look at the fun this month from 5–8 pm:
• Begin at our Welcome Table in the Hawks Pavilion! Pick up a program and map for the evening. We can let you know about membership opportunities, upcoming programs, our Bloomberg Connects digital guide, and Art Card self-guide resources. We also can help with any accessibility needs.
• Curator Conversations*, 6-6:45 pm, with Karin Campbell, Phil Willson Curator of Contemporary Art, speaking about the reinstallation of the 20th-century art collection in the Scott Pavilion. Each month, Joslyn Art Museum curators, scholars, and community partners will have conversations about different areas of the collection—sharing new works and how the reinstallation unfolded in each part of the Museum’s collection. *ASL interpretation provided.
• Visit Studio 1 to create a work of art inspired by work in the collection. All ages are welcome.
• Check out our Art Cart station, with opportunities to touch hands-on materials and talk about art with our friendly Gallery Volunteers.
• Drop-In Sketching! We have all the materials you need for sketching—a great way to slow down and look carefully at what you see.
• Due to the generous support of Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program, "All Aboard: The Railroad in American Art, 1840-1955," is free to all this evening; always free to Joslyn members.
• The Founder’s Room is designated as a quiet space for this event, stocked with an array of books and games.
• Don’t forget to check out more great spaces—The Cafe offers food and drink for sale. The Shop has beautiful art items for all ages and interests. If you are part of an intergenerational group, be sure to visit Art Works: A Place for Curiosity, an interactive space with nine different art activity stations (children must be accompanied by adults).
Generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.
